Matt comes to us from Semiahmoo MHA and he specializes on developing defencemen.

Matt has an extensive playing and coaching background and is excited to be joining Semiahmoo Minor Hockey as part of the player development team. Matt played his Junior Hockey with the Surrey Eagles and was part of the 1998 Royal Bank Cup National Championship team. Matt earned a Division 1 scholarship to Quinnipiac University in Connecticut. He graduated as the second leading scoring defensemen in school history while being named the Senior Scholar Athlete of the Year. Matt has been involved in coaching for the past 14 years from minor hockey to Major Junior Hockey. Matt was the Head Coach and General Manager of the Surrey Eagles from 2010 – 2013. He led the Eagles to the BCHL Championship and a berth in the National Championships and earned BCHL Coach of the Year in 2012. Matt was the Assistant Coach of the Vancouver Giants (WHL) from 2013 – 2016. Matt most recently coached at the Delta Hockey Academy from 2015 to 2018 where he focussed on the Midget and Bantam Prep teams. This past season, Matt, along with Shane, coached the SEMI Hockey PeeWee A1 team to win the BC Hockey Championships.
